Google Adwords is a programme from Google that allows you to create advertisements. Here you determine your texts on the basis of relevant words.
What is Adwords?
Adwords is an advertising program from Google and is also known as Google Ads. Using relevant search terms, you can easily create ads that Google will then show in the search results. These ads allow you to advertise on both the search network and the display network.
When preparing the advertisements, you can choose whether you want to use paid or non-paid advertisements. If you opt for non-paid ads, they will be shown at the top of the organic search results. If you choose to use paid advertisements, these are at the top of the results. These advertisements can be recognized by the word ‘advertisement’ in bold printed next to them. Paid ads are also known as CPC where you pay per click.
Google Adwords: Relevance and Quality Score
Google only wants to show ads that are relevant to the keyword. People are more likely to click on an ad if it is also relevant to the topic. To ensure that relevant ads are created, Google has a reward system: the more relevant the keyword, the lower the cost per click. But when is an ad relevant? Google considers an ad relevant if the keyword is relevant to the ad text and the landing page is relevant.
Keyword relevance and landing page together determine CTR, which is the number of clicks divided by the number of impressions. This is also known as the Quality Score. 1 is the lowest score and 10 is the highest score. The aim is to aim for the highest possible score per keyword.
Quality Score is one of the factors determining cost per click. Another important part of this is what the other advertisers are willing to pay per click. Using a bidding system, you can bid on the maximum you want to pay per click. The final Quality Score and bids from the competition determine what you will pay per click.
Benefits of Google Adwords
One of the great advantages of advertising through Adwords is that you can measure the costs and revenues per keyword. This allows you to keep track of what results certain keywords will bring you. You can also see, for example, on which days the advertisements are viewed most often. In addition, you can set that you only want to advertise within a certain region, because that is where your target group is located. Thanks to all these insights, you can set up your ads in a smart way without incurring too many unnecessary costs.
