Affiliation is bringing in customers where other people promote your product or service in exchange for a fee.
What is Affiliation?
Affiliation is the promotion of products or services by others, whereby the advertiser pays a fee in the form of a commission. The promotion often takes place in a blog or via social media. You can approach affiliates yourself, but you can also join an affiliate network. The commission paid to the affiliate is usually a percentage or amount per purchase. The affiliate can earn this in two ways. First of all, the affiliate can earn commission the moment someone clicks on the link (cost per click). The amount of commission then depends on the results. The more often someone clicks on the link, the more commission they receive. It can also be agreed that they will receive a percentage of commission on every sale that takes place (cost per sale).
You can use affiliate marketing for almost anything. You should keep in mind that the affiliates have a lot of freedom and you do not have the campaign in your own hands. In addition, setting up an affiliate campaign takes a lot of time and it is wise to only use it if you have a campaign with a long duration.
Suppose I am an affiliate of the Mediamarkt and I make a blog about smartphones. In my blog I make a top 5 of the best smartphones with links to the product in question. When people click on that link to buy the item, I receive a percentage of the sale.
In this way I promote the smartphones for the Mediamarkt. This means that the Mediamarkt receives more customers and I receive a compensation.
