Click-through rate refers to the percentage of people who click on a link. This measures the success of your marketing efforts.
What is click-through rate?
Click-through rate (CTR) tells you how many people click on a link, such as a link or an ad. It is calculated by dividing the number of clicks by the number of views of the ad.
CTR = number of clicks / number of impressions
Suppose the ad was clicked 1,000 times, of which 100 people. Then the CTR in this case is 10%.
The average CTR within Google Ads is about 2%.
What do you use click-through rate for?
It measures, among other things, the performance of ad campaigns, such as search ads in Google Ads. The search ads are paid based on the number of clicks on the ad. The click-through rate helps determine how much traffic the ad will generate and what it will cost. Does your ad have a high CTR score? This means that visitors experience your advertisement as useful. It also affects the Quality Score of a search ad. A high CTR ensures that Google gives you a high quality score. This can potentially lower costs and get you a higher position. Finally, clickthrough rate can also be important in SEO marketing,
How do you improve CTR?
You can improve CTR in several ways. We’ll give you three tips:
- Make sure you cluster similar keywords in an ad group;
- Bid on keywords that consist of multiple keywords, the so-called long tail keywords;
- Make sure you exclude irrelevant keywords from your campaign.
